These two bullet molds are both marked "44-W" and illustrate the differences between the straight handled and gracefully curved variants of BGI molds. The straight handled mold is marked simply "B.G.I. Co" while the gracefully curved one has the more complete "Bridgeport G. I. Co" marking. Also, notice that the configuration of the handles is different for the two types of molds. As one holds the molds, the gracefully curved variant has the left handle cross over the right handle at the hinge while the straight handled variant is just the opposite with the right handle crossing over the left. When the handles are viewed from the side, you can see that the gracefully shaped handles also have a pleasing graceful shape in the vertical dimension. Machining operations needed for construction of those curves must have been considerably more complicated than those required for the straight handled one. Bullet profiles from the two molds are quite similar.
