Here are two Ballard seating tools. The longer one is 40 caliber and the shorter one 38-55. The tools are nicely nickel-plated on the outside. The insert shows the caliber marking and bottom of the base of the 38-55 tool. The milled slot in the bottom allows room for a sharped tool (perhaps a screwdriver tip) to slip under the rim of the cartridge and help extract it from the seating chamber.
