The little note inside the box reads as follows: "Persons using our Solid Head Shells which have expanded by continued use so that they do not enter the chamber readily, can have them reduced to original size by returning them to us by mail, cleaned, with 15 cents to pay return postage and cost of reducing them. E. REMINGTON & SONS." There are also "Directions for Use" listed on the top cover of the box; those should be readable. Ed Curtis is assembling a database of the calibers and assembly numbers on these tools for publication, and you are invited to contribute to that if you can. Later variants typically do not show the assembly numbers, and are finished with a combination of brick red paint and nickel plating.
