Here is an image showing three morphologically related molds. The United States Cartridge Company mold is on the left; Union Metallic Cartridge Company mold is in the middle and the Whitney mold is on the right.

This specimen is marked as having been made by the Union Metallic Cartridge Company, but is quite different from those usually encountered. The mold is generally lighter, has a hinge pin with ends which are flush with the surface, has lighter, flatter handles, and is marked with the company name.

Here is another unusual mold. Some people think this type of mold was a F. Wesson product. Sometimes similar molds are encountered made of brass. This one is made of iron and is marked for 40-70 W.C. Of course, the bullet is for use with paper patches.
