
Here are two nice examples of Winchester '74/82 tools with adjustable seating chambers in Ballard calibers. Notice the round "observation port" used on the 40-70 tool and oblong one for the 40-90. If you look closely at the caliber marking on the 40-70 tool you can just barely make out a shallow "W.C.F." in the background...one encounters mismarked tools fairly frequently, especially in tools which were hand stamped. Winchester adjustable tools marked for any non-Winchester cartridge are hard to find, and Ballard marked examples are eagerly sought by tool collectors, Ballard collectors and shooters. There are no Berdan chisels on these two specimens.
