Here is an original box label for a first model 1880 tool. The tool is illustrated on the label. Notice the rough surface of the box just outside the label....the finish on the box, but not the label, is identical to that seen on the 40-82 third model tool box shown here. The label, itself, is identical except for the image of the tool shown. The surface is also similar to the surface seen on this early 1882 tool box. This style of box predates the more commonly encountered ones with smooth exterior surfaces as seen here.
